The Book is Coming.

- - Part two of last week's strip.

I wanted to write a quick note to let you know that in the next week or two, you'll be able to get your hands on a full collection of my past daily strips. Yeti Press is putting out a book that contains all of the strips done between September 2010 and September 2011.

Some of you may have gotten a copy of the limited special books I printed last winter, but there were only 30 of those, and they've all found homes.
This is my first real print-run of anything, and I feel kind of humbled that it's actually happening. I drew all new full color covers, and re-lettered a lot of the introduction pages. There is even a foreword written by Ivan Brunetti, in his ultimate generosity.

Check it out on the Yeti Press store page, and I'll be sure to post again when it's available:

Mornin' Everyone - Happy Saturday. My upstairs neighbors were apparently trying to perfect the worlds most repetitive electronic dance song at 5am - just thought I'd let you know.

I promised earlier this week that I'd be revealing a new comic on Sunday, but I thought I'd go ahead and do it a day early, as a treat for those who would consider it a treat.

Anyhow, without further ado, I'd like to invite you to check out my new weekly strip - "The Continuing Adventures of Egg-Man and Bacon Boy."

I hope you enjoy.

And here is today's Famous Game Show Host:

Alex Trebek - "Jeopardy"

Also, before I go, I'd like to post about Eric Roesner's recently undertaking a daily autobiographical comic. Eric is a good friend and one of the founders of Yeti Press. He's done a lot of really great work in the past, but in the short time he's been carrying out this daily strip, he has produced some of the most human stuff I've ever seen him do. It's really impressive.

Playing "sketch-up." The Big Lebowski vs. High Fidelity - January 9th, Lincoln Hall

I've been updating lately with the game show host trading card series, but I haven't had much time to post anything else, so here are some catch-up sketches from this week. Wednesday night I went to see The Big Lebwoski and High Fidelity at Lincoln Hall, a great new venue in Lincoln Park.
Every few weeks they play a totally free double feature movie. This weeks' selection was a serious treat. I love High Fidelity. In the past I've seen Wayne's World vs. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and before that Evil Dead II vs. Dead Alive. I seriously suggest checking out the next showing on January 23rd: Robocop vs. Beverly Hills Cop.

In other news, I'm just about finished with my pages for the newest LINEWORK anthology, which should be coming out in the spring. It's been a battle again my own newfound methods of procrastination to get it done, but I'm forcing myself to break out of those habits.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has complimented the Game Show Host Trading Cards. Those were a fun idea, and I'm enjoying drawing them. If you really love them, you can have the chance to own one of the originals - they will be spread among the 30 special edition copies of the new Linework, which will each contain other original drawings and goodies from some of the anthology's most talented and stalwart contributors.

The Covered blog doesn't update anymore, but in the spirit of it's interesting artist interpretations of classic comics covers, I did this based on an issue of "Cartoon Network presents" I got yesterday at Chicago Comics in their cheap-o bin.

A special tribute to James Kochalka's "American Elf," which ended after 14 years of daily comics. American Elf is a genre defining autobiographical comic that has inspired thousands of young cartoonists, like myself.
Seeing the early black and white strips in college led me to where I am today.

Welcome to 2013, Picture Diary.

Hey everybody,
Thanks for following the year of things in my room. Now that 2012 has come to a close, I'd like to introduce a new concept, my picture diary.
From here on out I'll be posting drawings and doodles about things I see and how I feel and where I am and etcetera every so often, I can't promise every day, but I can promise that I'll try to draw every day (even if I don't post what it is I've drawn).
In addition, I'll still be posting my weekly autobiographical strip every Wednesday, so make sure you check back.
I'm also hoping to announce some other cool stuff soon, so there's that.

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

Hello friends,

Thanks for following my work for the past year. I've had an interesting time trying to draw as many different things in my apartment as possible. Originally, I started with the idea that a person can be defined by the possessions they surround themselves with. Not necessarily the physical items, but the memories they carry. Its been an interesting exercise, and it kept me fascinated with objects, though I'm not sure how successful it was as a complete story.
I didn't learn much about the objects I keep in my home, but I did gain some insight as to how I curated which ones I would draw each day. In a year where I cut myself off from a lot of the things I used to enjoy in life, I began to realize how people can replace human interaction with the high you get from collecting things. It's made me more aware of how important relationships with people are, as opposed to inanimate objects.

In the next few weeks, I'm going to be working on some strips I've been putting off for a while. However, by the end of the month I hope to have come up with a new solution to keep my drawing every day. I'd like to do more comics, though I need to find a way to give myself the time to do them. The ideas are coming back, so that's good.

In the meantime I'll be keeping up with my weekly strip, so keep checking back.

Happy new year, thanks for visiting.
